There's a kind of brokenness that's harder to heal than any other, the brokenness between people. Forgiveness isn't minimizing what happened or letting someone off the hook. It's releasing the debt and choosing not to let bitterness poison us. Through Ephesians 4 and Jesus's teaching in Matthew 18, we learn that forgiveness is empowered by grace, the same grace that forgave us. It's not optional for followers of Jesus, and it's often a process, not a one-time decision. When reconciliation happens and relationships are restored, it's one of the clearest pictures of the Gospel we'll ever see.
