As we light the third candle of Advent, the Shepherd’s Candle, we remember the angels’ declaration of “good news of great joy.” Joy isn’t manufactured or circumstantial; it’s the overflow of knowing Jesus, abiding in His presence, and trusting His promises. From the shepherds in Bethlehem to the early disciples in Acts, joy has always been the mark of those who have encountered Christ. The Lord has come, and He is still near.
