In this masterful and moving message, New Testament scholar Dr. Lynn Cohick explores the theme of Christoformity—living a life shaped like Christ—through the often-overlooked lens of women’s stories in Scripture. Focusing on silence not as absence or oppression, but as a powerful act of agency and faithfulness, Dr. Cohick reframes the narratives of biblical women whose lives spoke volumes, even when their words were few.
From Mary the Theotokos to the woman who anointed Jesus in Luke 7, from the widow with two coins to Mary of Bethany and the silent women at the cross, Dr. Cohick walks us through the Gospels with careful cultural exegesis and deep theological insight. She dismantles common myths—like the assumption that “sinful” must mean “sexually immoral”—and shows how women’s acts of devotion, grief, generosity, and courage were often the truest embodiment of the gospel.
She concludes with the story of Tabitha (Dorcas) in Acts, whose Christ-shaped life of generosity and service led an entire community to plead for her resurrection. Though these women are often silent in the biblical text, their faith still echoes. Their stories invite all of us—men and women alike—into lives of courage, faithfulness, and self-giving love.
